Fault Trips
Diagnosis of overcurrent, overvoltage, undervoltage, and ground-fault trips that take the drive offline.
The drive is what keeps your motors at the right speed and torque. We repair VFDs, AC drives, and DC drives at the component level and get the motor back online without the lead time of a replacement.
An electrical drive controls the speed, torque, and direction of a motor. Variable frequency drives (VFDs) and other AC drives vary frequency and voltage to run AC induction motors, while DC drives regulate armature and field current on DC motors. Drives range from small fractional-horsepower VFDs to large regenerative DC drives on mills, extruders, and winders.
Because the drive sits between the power supply and the motor, a failed drive usually means the line stops. A fast, reliable drive repair restores motor control and gets production moving again without the cost and lead time of a new unit, which is often significant on larger or obsolete platforms.
We address the full range of drive faults, from trips and power-section failures to control, cooling, and communication problems.
Diagnosis of overcurrent, overvoltage, undervoltage, and ground-fault trips that take the drive offline.
Replacement of IGBTs, SCRs, rectifier diodes, and DC bus capacitors in the power stage.
Correction of erratic, drifting, or unresponsive motor control and feedback faults.
Recovery of EtherNet/IP, Profibus, Modbus, and other fieldbus links that drop or will not connect.
Repair of fans, heatsinks, and thermal faults that shut the drive down.
Correction of corrupted parameters, firmware faults, and failed keypads that block normal operation.
Every drive type comes to the same bench and is tested before it ships back.
Variable frequency drive repair for PowerFlex, MICROMASTER, SINAMICS, ALTIVAR, FREQROL, Yaskawa, ABB ACS, and more. We repair the rectifier, DC bus, and inverter section, replace failed IGBTs and capacitors, and verify the VFD under operating conditions.
AC drive repair for current and obsolete platforms, including the Allen-Bradley 1336 and 1305, Siemens SIMOVERT, and MIDIMASTER. We fix power-section, control-board, and feedback faults on AC drives of every generation.
DC drive repair for SCR-based armature and field controllers, including regenerative DC drives such as Siemens SIMOREG. We replace SCRs, firing boards, and field supplies, and verify armature and field control before return.

We repair electrical drives from the leading automation manufacturers, including Allen-Bradley, Siemens, ABB, Yaskawa, and Schneider, on both current and obsolete platforms. If your drive is not listed, it may still be repairable.
Obsolete and discontinued drives come across our bench every week. Send us the part number at customerservice@classicautomation.com, or a photo of the nameplate if the number is gone, and we will tell you whether it is repairable.
Understanding what the drive does on your line helps explain why a fast repair matters.
Holds motor speed at the setpoint your process needs, from a crawl to full rated speed.
Delivers consistent torque for conveyors, winders, and other tension-sensitive loads.
Matches motor output to demand, cutting wasted energy on pumps and fans.
Ramps motors up and down to reduce mechanical and electrical stress.
Guards the motor and drive against overload, phase loss, and fault conditions.
Every drive repair, whether a VFD, AC drive, or DC drive, is verified on system-specific test fixtures built to reflect real production use, using advanced diagnostics such as Huntron trackers, oscilloscopes, thermal imaging, and X-ray inspection.
Parts ship back only after meeting our quality standards, and every repair is backed by our full 2-year warranty.
From your first request to a tested part back on your floor, we keep you informed at every step.

We confirm the order and provide a Repair Authorization number plus shipping instructions.
Send it in using the RA instructions. International repair orders ship to us prepaid and free.
Component-level diagnostics and repair, verified on system-specific test fixtures.
Your tested part ships back ready to run, backed by our full 2-year warranty.
Tell us how the drive is faulting, or refusing to run, and we'll evaluate it free. If we can't fix it, you don't pay.
Plenty of what we repair never made it onto a product page. Obsolete, oddball, no part number left on the nameplate: ask us anyway. Chances are we've seen it before.
